Still, it was likely because The Running Man was revealed to be a King novel that it received a film adaptation fairly quickly, due to how popular King was at the time. He spoils his own book's ending in it! That Stephen King always gets me. King has a few stylistic traits that pop up often that would have given it away for me. This one bears a startling resemblance to our current reality tv situation. Written in solid simplicity, this novel follows the blossoming friendship between the main character, Joseph, and his older, mysterious neighbor, Tom Leyton. When I was young and not quite so jaded, I still believed that film adaptations were a good idea. I really like the character growth throughout this novel.

If I hadn't been spoiled, I'm not really sure how I would have handled the ending, but it was a helluva ending.
